Quang Nam receives UNESCO’s recognition for Bai Choi singing
PANO - On May 7, the Quang Nam provincial People’s Committee and relevant agencies held a ceremony in Hoi An city to receive a certificate from UNESCO recognizing Bai Choi singing as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
The province is among central localities with a time-honored history and culture and a wide range of intangible and tangible heritages. Together with the two heritages of My Son Sanctuary-Hoi An Ancient Town and Cu Lao Cham Biosphere Reserve, the Bai Choi singing, a unique folkloric style of singing, has become another Intangible Cultural Heritage of central provinces recognized by UNESCO.
Earlier, the recognition of Bai Choi singing was made during the 12th session of the UNESCO Inter-governmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritages in Jeju, the Republic of Korea (RoK), on December 7, 2017.
