The World Match Racing Tour (WMRT) on February 6 awarded the Rainbow International Company rights to host the VietnamMatch Cup, an international sailing race to be held Nha Trang City in the south-central province of Khanh Hoa.
“It is a great honor for Rainbow International to host such a large scale program in Vietnam. For the first time, Vietnamese people will have the chance to witness the competition amongst the world best sailors right off the shores of their homeland,” said Mr. Do Tuan Anh, General Director of Rainbow International.
The sailing race was first held in the US in 2000 and the ninth annual race will be held for the first time in Vietnam at Nha Trang beach in conjunction with Novotel Hotel
This year’s tour will begin in France in April and competitors are scheduled to arrive in Nha Trang for the eighth stage of the tour in September.
Twelve teams are to compete in this year’s competition, which will begin in France in April and then travel to Denmark, Germany, Switzerland, the US, Portugal, the Republic of Korea (RoK), Vietnam and Malaysia.
The championship involves 12 teams sailing 10m to 12m boats with four to six crew members.
