Chuyen was a former director of the Vietnam Television and member of the Vietnam Writers’ Association. He has created over 300 works of literature, journalism, cinema, and television about postwar topics such as veterans, martyrs, and Agent Orange (AO)/Dioxin victims. His works made positive impacts on the community, contributing to improving the social care for national contributors. He was honored with the National Award on Literature and Art by the State President last year.
