The relics site of Kon Tum prison.

PANO - 400 exhibits and more than 500 precious documents are now being displayed at the relics site of Kon Tum prison near the town.

Among those items preserved in the relics are a lot of old letters with moving contents written by parents to their children or by political prisoners to encourage each other, and many optimistic poems.

Moreover, utensils, devices and musical instruments of Central Highlands’ inhabitants are preserved and introduced in the relics.

In the1930s, Kon Tum prison witnessed savage tortures by French colonists on prisoners of war, as well as revolutionary soldiers’ everlasting spirit of fighting against the enemy.

Witnesses from that time are still around. Sometimes, they recall the period so lively that people feel they are actually experiencing moments from wartime. Events relating to the struggle against the enemy in Kon Tum prison are recorded in many books and documents. A book titled “Kon Tum Prison” by Le Van Hien is among those.

With important exhibits, Kon Tum prison, whose traditional day is December 12, has become a popular tourist destination.

It was recognised as a cultural-historical relic at the State level.
