An "Ao dai" showcased at the exhibition

PANO – A collection of old Ao dai (traditional long dress of Vietnamese people) worn by people in Hue are on display at an exhibition in Hanoi on January 16th by the Goethe Institute, a culture centre of the Federal Republic of Germany.

These long dresses have been collected by professor and collector Thai Kim Lan.

The event, in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Germany and Vietnam, aims to highlight the beauty of the traditional costume of the Vietnamese people and demonstrate visitors methods to preserve them.

During the exhibition, collector Thai Kim Lan, female German artist Veronika Witte and cultural and historical researcher Tran Quang Duc will help visitors understand more about the birth and significance of long dresses of old Hue people through talks.

The event will run until late January.
