The festivals aim to raise sportsmanship and introduce traditional dugout canoes of Lak district as the national heritage to domestic and international visitors. Via the festivals, the organizing panel wanted to raise public awareness of preserving and promoting special cultural values of local ethnic groups, as well as popularizing local tourism.

Two elephants in the elephant racing festival 
This year, 13 elephants, ridden by two mahouts each, from Lak district took part in the festival. After interesting competitions on land, the organizing panel presented the first, second and third prizes to Kham Sen and Y’Gah, MTao and Y’Nap Triek, and H’Nong Sen and Y’Con Triek teams, respectively. In the “in water” category, the first prize went to the Kam Fan and H’Dje team, while the second and third prizes were granted to the Thong Rang and H’An team, and the Kham Sen and Y’Gah team, respectively.

The traditional dugout canoe competition, with the participation of 20 racing canoes and some 100 athletes, attracted scores of spectators. It consisted of 2-athlete canoe race, 4-athlete canoe race and 5-athlete canoe race. The first, second and third prizes went to teams from Jun village, Le village, and Highland Trail Company, respectively.
