Int’l Francophone Day marked in Hanoi
PANO – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in association with the Hanoi People's Committee and the Francophonie International Organization (OIF), on March 15 held a ceremony to celebrate the International Francophone Day 2019 (March 20) at Ly Thai To Park, Hanoi.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung highly appreciated the achievements of the comprehensive cooperation of the French-speaking community, contributing to addressing global challenges of security and development.

Accordingly, over the past years, Vietnam has made great efforts and practically contributed to the development of the Francophone community and strengthened the position of the French language in the region, he said.
During the event, Anne Lange, Head of the Wallonie-Bruxelles Regional Mission to Vietnam, Chairwoman of the Group of Francophone Embassies, Delegations and Institutions (GADIF), presented GADIF Awards to Bui Tran Phuong, Chairwoman of Pacific University (Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa province), and Tran Bich Nga - student of Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy.
This is an annual award voted by embassies, diplomatic missions and French-speaking agencies in Hanoi to honor outstanding individuals who have made great contributions to promoting French language study in Vietnam, and relations between Vietnam and international organizations.
