Great writer Franz Kafka’s birth anniversary observed in Vietnam
PANO - A series of activities in celebration of 135th birth anniversary of great writer Franz Kafka (July 3) are being held in Hanoi by the embassies of Austria, the Czech Republic, France, Germany and Switzerland in Vietnam in coordination with Vietnamese schools, cultural, communications and art establishments.
Accordingly, between March and April, Kafka’s compositions which have been translated in Vietnamese language and published in Vietnam will be introduced to readers. Besides, an exhibition entitled “Kafka - the Journey to Vietnamese readers” will be organized while four films featuring his life and works will be screened.
Moreover, a writing contest under the theme “Kafka with us” will be launched.
Born in the Czech Republic, Franz Kafka (1883-1924) wrote novels and short stories in German language. He was considered a leading writer in modernist literature and one of the most influential authors of the 20th century. His works include “The Trial”, “The Castle”, and “The Transformation”, to name but a few.
