During yesterday’s reception of Joao Mendonca Lima Neto, the Brazilian Ambassador to Vietnam, Nguyen Trong Hy, chairman of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), expressed a hope that the Brazilian Embassy and the Ministry of Sports will help VFF invite Pele, nicknamed “the King of Football”, to visit Vietnam and meet with Vietnamese fans.

The Ambassador promised to try his best to make VFF’s invitation come true. In fact, it is not easy due to Pele’s busy schedule.

Along with the invitation to Pele, the Brazilian side will make contact with several leading football clubs in Brazil for friendly matches with Vietnam’s football team.

Also at the reception, the Brazilian Ambassador unveiled a plan inviting Vietnam’s football team to visit and play friendly matches in Brazil.

Last July, the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Brazilian Ministry of Sports signed a Memorandum of Understanding for sport cooperation on the occasion of the Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula Da Silva’s visit to Vietnam, meaning football matches and visits in the future will help promote cooperation relationship between the two countries.
