Dong Ho folk painting proposed to be recognized by UNESCO
PANO – The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has just reached an agreement with Bac Ninh province on proposing UNESCO to recognize the Dong Ho folk painting as an intangible cultural heritage in need of urgent preservation.
The Dong Ho painting, originated from Dong Ho Village in Thuan Thanh District of the Red River Delta Province of Bac Ninh, bears historical, cultural and artistic values. This is one of the 10 cultural heritages approved by the Prime Minister to be applied for UNESCO’s recognition.
As scheduled, the dossiers of the folk painting would be completed in late next year. The Bac Ninh Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has been tasked to work with relevant organizations to compile the dossiers.
