PANO - A month-long contest for experimental music compositions has been launched by the Danish Embassy (Oct. 7- Nov.7).

The contest is part of an action programme of the Denmark-Vietnam cultural exchange fund that yearly awards prizes to young talents in the fine arts.

Actually, experimental music has recently been drowned out by popular music not only in Vietnam but worldwide. Diversified melodies, especially experimental musical works, are now less heard and seldom introduced to the public.

The contest aims to create opportunities for young music composers nationwide to bring into play their talents. Contestants must be citizens of Vietnam under 35 and entries must be works composed recently and not yet made public. 3 excellent contestants will be selected for the semifinal round and the first prize winner will be given at least a week-long study tour in Denmark.

All prize winners will have chances to present their works at the gala night held by the Danish Embassy on Dec. 12 at the Hanoi Opera House, celebrating the 33rd anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Denmark diplomatic ties.
