The drama was based on the "Bukit Merah" play, written by Singaporean Director Chua Soo Pong, about the peaceful fishing village of Bukit Merah and its beauty and friendly people.

The drama aims to celebrate the 45th anniversary of Vietnam-Singapore diplomatic ties (1973-2018).
