May 24 is one of Bulgaria’s most important days honoring the country’s traditional and modern cultural values, honoring teachers, students, and training institutions with great contribution to the establishment and development of Bulgarian education sector. The day is also to commemorate Bulgarian brothers Kiril and Metodi who created Slavic alphabet being used by around 20 countries in the world.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Bulgarian Ambassador to Vietnam Marinela Petkova affirmed the significance of the celebration of the Bulgarian Culture and Education and Slavic Language Festival in Vietnam. She emphasized the important role of knowledge, education and cultural exchange in building long-lasting friendship among countries.

Evaluating the bilateral relationship, the Bulgarian diplomat said that the efforts of leaders of the two countries in maintaining political dialogues and promoting the partnership in line with their potential, demand and strengths are clear proof of the right direction of the bilateral relationship.

According to her, the bilateral trade between Vietnam and Bulgaria has positively developed. In the coming time, a trade mission of Vietnam will visit Bulgaria in June, and a Bulgarian delegation will come to Vietnam in July. She also affirmed that Vietnam and Bulgaria have plenty of room for developing mutually beneficial cooperative relations. The two countries should promote relationship between businesses and people, considering it a motivation for developing a prosperous community of friends and creating new friendship.

Being delighted at the outcomes of the Vietnam – Bulgaria relationship, President of the Vietnam – Bulgaria Friendship Association Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong emphasized that despite the COVID-19 pandemic and emerging international issues, the traditional bilateral relations have been maintained and developed. The two countries have actively supported each other at multilateral forums.

She recalled that in November 2020, the Vietnam – Bulgaria Friendship Association and Bulgaria Embassy in Vietnam held a ceremony to mark the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties with the participation of around 700 delegates. In October 2021, Vietnamese Vice State President Vo Thi Anh Xuan paid an official visit to Bulgaria, showing Vietnamese Party and State leaders’ high appreciation of the relationship with Bulgaria.

The President of the Vietnam – Bulgaria Friendship Association said that over the past time the association has tried its best to consolidate and develop the bilateral relationship. In the coming time, the association will continue mobilizing resources to carry out people-to-people diplomacy activities, contributing to socio-economic development in each country.
