The famous American opera entitled “Annie Get Your Gun” is being staged to entertain audiences at Ho Chi Minh City’s Tran Hung Dao Theatre from November 21st to 30th.
The opera, with hundreds of domestic and international artists, is about a love story between a markswoman, Annie Oakley, and her rival, who is her wouldbe husband, Frank Butler.
In 1946, after the opera debuted on the Broadway stage, it soon became a phenomenon, and was one of the longest-running shows in New York and London.
Several songs in the opera, such as There's no business like show business, Doing what comes Naturally, You can't get a man with a gun, Anything you can do, among others, were the hottest hits in the US at one time.
Proceeds earned from the show will be presented to the Poussieres de Vie Foundation, a French non-governmental organization in Ho Chi Minh City, which offers educational training programmes for street children and disadvantaged people.
The event is being co-organised by the HBSO Ballet, the Saigon Players Club, and the Dancenter Club, as well as the Ho Chi Minh City International Choir.
