is the 7th foreign footballer to have been granted Vietnamese nationality.
Brazilian footballer Fabio Dos Santos, who plays for the Dong Tam-Long An Football Club, was granted Vietnamese nationality on December 25. Now, Fabio Dos Santos is known as Phan Van Santos.
Santos said he chose the family name Phan Van because he admires his colleague Phan Van Tai Em, who is considered a role model in daily training activity and loved very much by the public.
Santos joined Dong Tam-Long An F.C. in December 2001. He has proved his talent over the last 6 years by successfully helping his football club to rise from the First Division up to the V-League and making Dong Tam-Long An one of the leading clubs in Vietnam.
He played for his Club when they won two consecutive National Championships in 2005 and 2006 as well as the National Super Cup in 2006.
Beside being 1.98m tall and passing the ball well, Santos is well-known for well scoring from penalties. He is the 7th foreign footballer to be granted Vietnamese nationality.
