A giant tray of 1.2 tonnes of sticky rice has been displayed at the Sports Centre of Yen Bai province as part of the local Spring Festival.

The tray, in the shape of a five-petal flower, symbolising mountains and forests of the northwestern part of Vietnam, has a diameter of 2.8m.

The sticky rice, made of Tu Le perfumed rice, is the speciality of the Thai people in Muong Lo, Yen Bai and dyed with five colours.

According to the organisation board, the sticky rice tray was made by 200 households with 800 kg of Tu Le rice and dozens of kilograms of leaves.

So far, this is the biggest tray of sticky rice of Vietnam.
