PANO – The Bauhinia flower festival will take place in Dien Bien province from March 13th to 15th with the participation of 8 northwestern provinces and other localities, including Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ho Chi Minh City, and Hanoi.

The culture, sports, and tourism event, in response to the National Tourism Year Northwest-Lao Cai 2017, aims to honour, preserve, and promote special cultural heritages in the northwestern region in general and Dien Bien in particular, promote  solidarity among ethnic minority groups.

The festival includes an exhibition on the traditional cultures of ethnic minority groups in Dien Bien province, a cuisine festival, a seminar on tourism products of the province, and an exhibition on books about Dien Bien and the northwest region.

The festivalgoers will also have a chance to take part in sports exchanges and folk games.

On the occasion, the province will also announce the planning of the Dien Bien Phu-Pa Khoang national tourism site.
