Vietnamese Karateka Nguyen Thanh Duy was awarded a bronze medal on October 3rd at the Asian Games in the Republic of Korea.

This is the only medal the Vietnamese team won on the last day of ASIAD 17.

The 21-year-old athlete did well in his martial arts performance and defeated rivals from Thailand, Brunei and Hong Kong (China) before beating Darkhan Assadilov from Kazakhstan 7-1 in the men’s kumite category, securing a bronze medal.

Later, in the women’s U-55kg category, Tran Hoang Yen Phuong lost 0:8 to Alagasan Nisha from Malaysia due to an injury.

As of 16:00 on October 3rd, Vietnam won 36 medals at ASIAD 17, including one gold, ten silver and 25 bronze medals, ranking 21st on the medal totally.
