ASEAN+3 singing contest to promote cultural exchange
PANO - The 2019 ASEAN+3 singing contest will take place in Ha Long city, the Northern coastal province of Quang Ninh, from July 26 to 29, as revealed by the Voice of Vietnam(VOV) at a press conference held on July 22 in Hanoi.
The contest, for young pop singers aged 18-35 from ten ASEAN member countries, aims to boost mutual understanding and cultural exchange between Vietnam and other countries in the region and create a playground for young music talents in the ASEAN Community to develop.
This year’s contest will see the participation of 22 contestants from 13 countries, including the ten ASEAN nations.
After the singing contest for young singers from ASEAN countries, invited singers from China, the Republic of Korea and Japan will also perform in the final evening.
Vietnamese musician Trong Dai and singer Thanh Lam are members of the five-member jury of this biennial contest jointly organized by the VOV and the Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee. Three other members of the jury come from the Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia.
On the sidelines of the contest, contestants, invited guests and the jury will have chances to contemplate the beauty of Ha Long Bay, one of the UNESCO-recognized world’s natural heritage, and visit Quang Ninh Museum to learn more about Vietnam’s history, culture, and nature.
