PANO - An artistic program themed “Hanoi - A Red Heart” in praise of the Capital city of Hanoi with more than a thousand years of history and culture, a high sense of heroic spirit and beauty, was staged on October 10 evening at Hanoi-based Au Co Arts Center by the People’s Army Newspaper, the Hanoi Radio and Television, and Nhan Tam Communications Joint-Stock Company.

The program, in celebration of the 62nd anniversary of the liberation of the capital city, was attended by representatives from the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army, central and municipal departments and organizations, high-ranking military officers, veterans and art-lovers.

A performance at the program

The songs “August 19” and “Marching towards Hanoi” by reputed music composers Xuan Oanh and Van Cao, respectively started the art program, bringing the audiences back to the time when the capital city of Hanoi was in the resistance war, and Uncle Ho’s soldiers bravely and joyfully returned to the city after the resistance war. The return of those soldiers with great happiness, laughs and even tears opened new historical pages for the capital city. All were lively reappeared through a dance that was choreographed by eminent artists Tuan Ngoc and Anh Thoa and performed by artists from the Military Singing and Dancing Theater.

Together with reports, songs in praise of the heroic history of Thang Long-Hanoi, the capital city for peace, the glorious Party, great Uncle Ho, heroic people and army made all audiences more proud of the capital city and inspired them to contribute more to the city’s development.

Attending the program, veteran Nguyen Quang Sang, a citizen of Hanoi, shared that the songs made him remember the days when he had volunteered to join the army for national salvation. How fierce, hard but very proud the days were.

Sang also held that he could not forget 12 days and nights in 1972 when the people and army of Hanoi resiliently fought the enemies off the city’s sky. Bombs were dropped onto the city, destroying establishments and killing many civilians. Despite huge losses and sufferings, local people and troops still united together in a courageous and resolute manner to defeat the enemies. That was the reason why dozens of B-52 bombers, F-4 Phantoms and F-105 Thunderchiefs were downed in the heroic capital city of Hanoi.

Undergoing ups and downs, the capital city has remained the heart of the heroic and beautiful country of Vietnam.

The last report “Hanoi-City for Peace” of the program depicted a Hanoi of peace, romance, quintessence, gentleness and friendliness, which has many tasty dishes and tourist attractions. All has featured today’s modern and dynamic Hanoi.

After the 90-minute program, the organizing panel in collaboration with other organizations will visit and present gifts to policy beneficiary families and national contributors in the capital city and neighboring localities.
