Artistic program celebrates national reunification day
PANO – The People’s Army Newspaper, the Hanoi Television and the Military Culture and Arts University co-held an artistic program on April 27 in Hanoi. The program is part of the activities to celebrate the 42nd anniversary of the South Liberation and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975).
The program was attended by former Politburo and Party Central Committee members, incumbent and former leaders of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, representatives of the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin, the Vietnamese Martyrs’ Families Support Association, and other Central and Hanoi’s agencies.
An artistic performance at the program
The event featured revolutionary songs with appealing melodies and lyrics, bringing the ardent atmosphere to the audience, reliving those heroic days 42 years ago when the whole nation burst with joy as the South was liberated and the country was reunified. The liberation set a new path to building up socialism in the whole territory of Vietnam.
The first part of the artistic program themed “Aspiration for peace and reunification” told the stories of people and armed forces of Vietnam during the 20 years of separation resulting in uncountable tears and pains. It also revoked the burning aspiration to reunify the country of the whole nation.
In the next parts of the program, well-known singers performed songs in concert with the presentation of archived documentaries reappearing images of the people and armed forces in the North in the socialist construction to make strong foundation for the liberation of the South. The lyrics pictured the peasants working ardently and ever-ready to join the military to fight for the reunification of the Fatherland.
The program also praised the mutual support, traditional friendship and special solidarity of the three countries of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia during those years of hardship fighting for national independence and freedom of each country. The program with its featured songs has called upon younger generations to follow the steps of their predecessors to build an increasingly wealthier Vietnam.
* At the event, the organizing panel presented 100 gifts to national contributors’ families in Hanoi and military units and agencies. Earlier, the People’s Army Newspaper and other individuals and groups sent gifts worth more than VND 80 million to troops and islanders of Truong Sa (Spratly) island district, Khanh Hoa province.
