The event is to mark the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic ties of Vietnam and France and the 10th anniversary of their strategic partnership.

One of the highlight activities of the event is a 60-stall space to introduce outstanding products, cultural features, and special dishes of different localities and photos of achievements in cooperation between Vietnam and France from April 14 to 16 in pedestrian streets around Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi.

The space will create opportunity for domestic and international visitors to experience culture and cuisine of Vietnam as well as popularize cultural features, potentials, and socio-economic achievements of Hanoi and other localities of the country.

According to Deputy Director of Hanoi’s Department of Foreign Affairs Tran Nghia Hoa, the conference is one of the important diplomatic and political events of the capital city to contribute to affirming Vietnam’s commitment to creating a favorable investment and trade environment for foreign businesses.

Hoa said that on the occasion France will organize a festival, themed “Tour France,” to introduce special dishes and photos of France. Hanoi’s Center for Investment, Trade, and Tourism Promotion will also work with relevant units to host “Colors of Vietnam” program as a cultural exchange for participants.

The 12th Vietnam - France decentralized cooperation conference is an opportunity to review and evaluate the outcomes of cooperation between Vietnamese and French localities over the past time, exchange difficulties and challenges and propose measures to effectively carry out cooperation policies and establish win-win partnership between localities of the two countries. The event’s outcomes will contribute to fostering the “traditional friendship and comprehensive,  long-term, and reliable cooperation” between the two countries.

Under the theme “Local cooperation: Momentum to promote recovery and sustainable and comprehensive development in post-pandemic time,” the 12th conference will focus on urban sustainability; environment, water, and waste water treatment; culture, heritage, and tourism; smart city and digitalization.
