The news was released at a press briefing held by the French Institute in Vietnam on March 15.

Addressing the event, Consul General of France in Ho Chi Minh City Emmanuelle Pavillon-Grosser said that 2023 is an opportunity to look back at the importance of the France - Vietnam cooperation in various field such as culture, economy, science, education, and healthcare. The activities to be held this year will contribute to opening a new chapter in the history of France - Vietnam ties, she added.

According to Ms. Emmanuelle Pavillon-Grosser, France is one of the first Western countries to support Vietnam's reform policy and has implemented strong cooperation with the country. In terms of economy, bilateral trade between the two countries has reached about EUR 7 billion. According to statistics, by the end of 2021, France was ranked third among E.U. countries investing in Vietnam with a total registered capital of about USD 3.6 billion. She said, “Given the richness of the relationship between the two countries in all fields, we want to mark this 50th anniversary of the diplomatic ties and also the 10th anniversary of the strategic partnership through organizing numerous events throughout the year.”

At the event, the French Institute in Vietnam introduced the main features of the 2023 cultural programs that will take place in Ho Chi Minh City. Accordingly, the activities will be carried out by the French Institute in Ho Chi Minh City (under the French Institute in Vietnam), with two seasons of the culinary and the fashion-design.
