PANO - A ceremony to launch a series of activities celebrating Vietnam's Ethnic Groups Cultural Day was held on April 16th at the Culture - Tourism Village of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups. State President Tran Dai Quang attended the event.

Addressing the event, the State President stressed the importance of culture in the Party's revolutionary cause and people's spiritual life. He urged relevant agencies to continue implementing the resolution of the 9th Plenum of the 11th Party Central Committee on fostering the Vietnamese culture and people to match the country’s sustainable development as well as the strategy for cultural development toward 2020.

The activities should focus on promoting the good Vietnamese cultural values, maintaining the cultural diversity of ethnic minority groups, and expanding international cultural exchanges in line with sustainable tourism and economic development, he added.

The President also suggested that relevant agencies should enhance education on the meaning of the day to build solidarity among the Vietnamese people, improve the people's pride of the country's cultural traditions and so on, contributing to popularizing the images of Vietnamese culture and people in the world.

After the opening ceremony, a special art program named "Thousands of quintessence gathered" was performed by artists from 12 professional art troupes and artisans nationwide.
