Construction of the Quan Son Buddha pagoda, the country’s fourth largest, will start in mid-May at Van Lang district in the northern province of Lang Son, according to Hoang Van Pao, Director of the provincial Culture, Sports and Tourism Department.
A groundbreaking ceremony will be held by the provincial People’s Committee and the Charity Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.
The new pagoda will be built on an area of 21ha at a cost of VND 600 billion contributed by businesses, sponsors, Buddhists and overseas Vietnamese. It will be one of the four largest Buddhism centers in Vietnam, attracting a large number of visitors to Lang Son province, said the Most Venerable Thich Thien Nho, Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Central Committee’s Executive Council.
