The Vietnamese Party and State has consistently attached great importance to friendship exchanges between the Vietnamese and Lao youth, creating favourable conditions to enhance their relations and promote mutual understanding, thus contributing to the special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, a senior Party official said.
Politburo member and Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Vo Van Thuong, who is also head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Information and Education, made the statement while hosting a reception for Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Youth Union (LPRYU) Central Committee Alounxai Sounnalath and alternate member of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee in Hanoi on May 16.

Thuong asked the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU) and the LPRYU to improve the efficiency of existing cooperation mechanisms and to expand their fields of collaboration for the socio-economic development of each country.
Speaking highly of the activities held within the 2019 Vietnam-Laos youth friendship meeting, taking place from May 15-21 in Vietnam, the official said that they have significant meaning in the context of Vietnam celebrating the 129th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday, the 60th anniversary of the legendary Truong Son trail, and seven decades since Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts came to support Laos during wartime.
He expressed his hope that the youth unions will pay more attention to educating the youths of the Vietnam-Laos traditional relations.
Sounnalath, for his part, affirmed that the LPRYU will continue close coordination with the HCYU to bolster exchanges and cooperation, making positive contributions to bilateral ties.
