Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Khamphao Ernthavanh emphasized that during a recent interview granted to the press.
The Lao diplomat emphasized that the trip, which is made at the invitation of Party General Secretary and State President To Lam, follows the success of the State visit to Laos by Comrade To Lam in his capacity as the State President (in July 2024). It takes place in the context that Laos is assuming the role of ASEAN Chair in 2024, and the two Parties, States, and peoples are celebrating the 62nd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (September 5, 1962 - 2024), the 47th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (July 18, 1977 - 2024), the 79th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day (September 2, 1945 - 2024), and the 49th anniversary of the National Day of the Lao People's Democratic Republic (December 2, 1975 - 2024).

Ambassador Khamphao Ernthavanh noted that despite the rapidly changing, complex, and unpredictable situations in the region and the world, under the leadership of the party, government, and national assembly of the two countries, the bilateral cooperation has achieved practical results in various fields, ranging from politics, defense, security, foreign affairs to economy, trade, investment, education and training, and cooperation between ministries, sectors, and localities.
The Lao diplomat affirmed that the achievements have significantly contributed to maintaining political stability, promoting socio-economic development, bringing practical benefits to the peoples of both countries, and strengthening the special Vietnam-Laos relationship. This cooperation has also elevated the role and position of the two countries, contributing positively to the maintenance of peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world, serving as a shining example of international relations.
“The State visit to Vietnam of the Lao Party General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith aims to further consolidate the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries. It is an opportunity for the two sides to strengthen the comprehensive cooperation to obtain more outcomes and bring practical benefits to the two people,” said Ambassador Khamphao Ernthavanh.
Regardless of how the regional and international situations develop, Laos and Vietnam will continue to prioritize preserving, protecting, nurturing, and enhancing the special solidarity between the two countries, passing it on to future generations, the Lao diplomat stressed.
