The two peoples have maintained close bonds in their struggles for national liberation and construction, he said, adding that the fruitful relations were built based on good neighborliness and demonstrated through the fights against common enemies.
Realizing the significance of Vietnam-Laos special relations, the two sides inked the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation on July 18, 1977, affirming the consistent solidarity, cooperation and supports for each other in national construction and defense in each country. This is a crucial historic milestone in the relations between the two Parties and Governments, the minister said.
He went on to say that despite complex developments in the global situation in the past four decades, the Lao Party, Government and Defense Ministries have always treasured and promoted relations with Vietnam. Cooperation between the two nations has been deepened with effective cooperation mechanisms and sound collaboration in various fields, bringing practical benefits to the two peoples.
After the meeting, Minister Chansamone Chanyalath and Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Ba Hung cut the ribbon to open a photo exhibition on Vietnam-Laos special friendship.
