The ship named Nippon Maru, with a 326 delegates from the 10 ASEAN countries and Japan on board, will spend four days in discovering Vietnam's southern hub.

During their stay, the delegation will pay a courtesy visit to the city's leaders, take part in an exchange program with the city's youths, tour some local tourist and historical places, and experience "homestay" to learn more about Vietnamese culture in general and local life in particular.

SSEAYP is an exchange for international youths, launched by the Japanese Government and ASEAN countries in 1974 to promote friendship and mutual understanding between young Japanese and the youth from Southeast Asian countries. Vietnam took part in the program in 1996, one year after the country joined ASEAN.
