Malaysia sets up council to address economic affairs
The Malaysian government has set up the Economic Action Council led by Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad to address economic matters as well as the welfare of the people.
In an announcement issued on February 11, the Prime Minister’s Office said the main target of the council establishment is to promote economic growth and equitable distribution of wealth.

It will also look into issues related to the cost of living, employment, poverty and home ownership.
The council was formed to respond and act upon the people’s feedback about the problems they face, particularly in the economic field.
It consists of ministers of economy, finance, international trade and industry as well as economists and leaders of major Malaysian businesses.
