The office will also assist ASEAN member nations in strengthening the role of their audit agencies in the fight against corruption and sustainable governance, he said.
Deputy Auditor General of the State Audit Office of Vietnam Doan Xuan Tien, who attended the ceremony, said Vietnam was one of the four nations that initiated the establishment of ASEANSAI.
Since 2011, Vietnam has held the chairmanship of ASEANSAI’s Committee for Strategic Plan, he said, adding that with the role, Vietnam presided over the building of strategic plan to develop and enhance ASEANSAI’s capacity in the past years.
This was an important contribution of Vietnam to improving the transparency and accountability of member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), thereby helping the bloc develop in a transparent and sustainable manner, Tien added.
The Office of the ASEANSAI Secretariat is located at the headquarters of the Indonesian Supreme Audit Agency, which was assigned as the ASEANSAI Secretariat for the 2018-2023 period.
It is the place to discuss and share various strategic issues, including ASEANSAI strategic plans in 2018-2021, 2018-2019 and many other plans of the organization.
