ASEAN officials discuss preparations for upcoming summit
Senior officials from the 10 ASEAN member states gathered for a three-day meeting in Manila, the Philippines, from October 11 to discuss preparations for the ASEAN Summit and related meetings slated for next month.

The
joint consultative meeting, chaired by Undersecretary of the Philippine
Department for Foreign Affairs (DFA) Enrique Manalo, is expected to focus on
documents that will be released during the 31st ASEAN Summit and related
meetings.
The
logistic preparations for the summit are also on the agenda of the meeting, the
DFA said.
After
the joint consultation meeting, the ASEAN senior officials will meet with their
counterparts from China, Japan and the Republic of Korea.
They
will also have meetings with senior officials of the East Asia Summit,
including Australia, China, India, Japan, New Zealand, the Republic of Korea,
Russia and the US.
The
other meetings will also focus on the outcome of documents for the 20th ASEAN
Plus Three Summit and 12th East Asia Summit in November.
US
President Donald Trump confirmed that he is attending the ASEAN-US Summit, the
ASEAN Plus Three Summit and the East Asia Summit in Manila.
