After over 10 months of construction, the work was completed two months earlier than scheduled to serve the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week, which is due to take place in the city from November 4-11.
The tunnel worth 118.3 billion VND (5.2 million USD) is 4.75m high and 409m long.
There are two lanes for Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) along with another two lanes for other vehicles.
The project was carried out by the Thuan An construction and trading joint-stock company and the management board of Priority Infrastructure Projects from December 29, 2016.
Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Ngoc Tuan said the tunnel is one of the key transport projects under the city’s sustainable development project sponsored by the World Bank.
The APEC 2017 Economic Leaders’ Week with major events in Da Nang city and Quang Nam province is an external focus of Vietnam between now and 2020.
Vietnam is expected to welcome around 10,000 delegates, including leaders of 21 APEC member economies, over 2,000 leading corporate executives and nearly 3,000 reporters in the region and the world.
