US-DPRK Summit 2019: China hopes for 'important step' towards denuclearization
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on February 27 that the second summit between US President Donald Trump and Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) leader Kim Jong-un can be an "important step" towards advancing denuclearization and peace on the Korean Peninsula.
The Hanoi meeting can not only increase the hard-won warming up of the situation, but also take an important step towards advancing the denuclearization of the peninsula and establishing a peace mechanism, Wang said after talks with his Russian and Indian counterparts in the eastern Chinese city of Wuzhen.
