The launch of different overseas tours during the 2013 summer holiday has attracted a large number of tourists.
Saigontourist, Vietravel, Hanoi Tourism, and The He Tre (Young Generation) offer many tours with multiple choice services at competitive prices.
During the two-day celebration of Southern Liberation Day (April 30) and May Day, domestic tourists prefer travelling to some ASEAN countries, Hong Kong (China), China, and the Republic of Korea (RoK), at the cost of VND3.3-15.7 million (US$150-700) per person.
Nguyen Minh Man, deputy head of Vietralvel’s marketing section, said that nearly 1,500 have booked tours to Thailand, Cambodia, Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong. Hundreds of others are headed for the RoK, Japan, Australia, the US and Europe.
Doan Thi Thanh Tra, a communications manger from Saigontourist, said many have decided to travel to Thailand and Dubai that offer discount and free buffets at luxury restaurants and hotels.
Tran The Dung, deputy director of The He Tre tourism company, said package tours are considered ideal for families and friends and they should book tours in advance at reputable travel agents.
In the meantime, foreign visitors are interested in seeing cultural and historical relic sites in the central and southern regions, particularly in Danang, Hoi An, Hue, Nha Trang, and Ho Chi Minh City.
Among major events which often attract a large number of tourists are firework displays in Danang and Carnival festival in Ha Long city.
