The Lao major flight company, Lao Airlines, in which the government still holds a 40 percent stake, will launch three new routes to Thailand, Viet Nam and Cambodia from October, according to the Lao News Agency (KPL).

Bangkok in Thailand will be the first flight route to be added from Oct. 4, and will depart from Luang Prabang air port on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Flights to Hanoi, Viet Nam will begin on Oct. 29, while flights to Siem Reap in Cambodia will be launched a following day, with only two flights a week for both routes.

Around 245,000 passengers fly with Lao Airlines each year, the KPL said.
