PANO - More than 8 million overseas tourists arrived in Vietnam in the first 10 months of 2016, up 25.4 percent against the same period last year.

Growth was seen in most markets, including China (55.2 percent), the Republic of Korea (40.1 percent), New Zealand (35 percent), Thailand (30.8 percent), the US (14.2 percent), France (13.3 percent), and Japan (10.8 percent).

In October alone, Vietnam welcomed 812,000 foreign holiday-makers, up 23.3 percent against the same period last year.

The tourism sector raked in VND 331.5 trillion (USD 14.4 billion) in the 10-month period in 2016, an yearly increase of 19.1 percent.

Vietnam aims to welcome 8.5 million foreign visitors and 60 million domestic travellers in 2016, and earn a total of VND 370 trillion (USD 16.8 billion) in revenue.
