Attractive village of stilt houses in Thai Nguyen
PANO – The Thai Hai Reserve Area of Ecological House-on-Stilts Village is located fairly close to the center of Thai Nguyen city in the Northern province of the same name.
The site, surrounded by lakes and hills, consists of 30 original stilt houses of the local Tay and Nung ethnic minority groups.

Visitors have a chance to live a genuinely rustic life. They will experience the authentic life and work of the local Tay and Nung ethnic minorities as they home-stay with them. At night, the home-stay complex is illuminated by light bulbs. However, the most beautiful moment in the area is at dawn of a new day. Through windows of stilt houses, tourists are able to enjoy the verdant greenery of the landscape and listen to familiar sounds of cocks crowing.
Hygiene and food safety are the first priority of the village. It is hard to find a piece of trash along the sidewalk or anywhere among the stilt houses.
The whole village is a remarkable enterprise, set up to preserve the traditional ways of living and built from scratch. They farm their own organic vegetables, raise their own animals, and make their own rice alcohol... Thus, the dishes are fresh and delicious.
The stars of the place are the people, who are Tay and Nung ethnic natives. They call each other their family members, even though they are not akin, to emphasize how close-knit their lives are and make strong efforts in preserving their groups’ traditional lifestyles, customs and cultures.
This is a great location for those who want to enjoy fresh air and explore the cultures, cuisines, and lifestyles of the Tay and Nung ethnic people.
