Young Doctors’ Day to be held nationwide to support the community
PANO – The Vietnam Youth Federation on May 7 held a press conference on the 2018 “Young Doctors' Day to follow Uncle Ho, Volunteer for Public Health” in Hanoi.
The program, which has been held for 9 consecutive years, attracts a large number of young doctors as well as volunteer youths, and contributes to social security and health care for the people.
Taking place from May 12 to 19 with the theme “Young doctors for public health”, this year’s program will be held in all 63 provinces and cities nationwide. The program will feature many meaningful activities such as free health checkups, health counselling and medicines. On the occasion, the doctors will also present gifts to needy people, especially those living in mountainous areas and perform free eye surgeries for cataracts on the elderly, to name a few.
As part of this year’s program, many provinces have set up organ donation counseling groups at blood donation places in support of the humanitarian donation movement. Consultancy on measures to prevent non-communicable diseases such as cancers and diabetes is promoted while screening for breast cancer is also conducted.
In addition, provinces examined those who might benefit from the program "Donated artificial limbs for people with disabilities" of the Vietnam Young Doctor’s Association, so that disabled people could soon reintegrate into the community.
