Vietnam sees no COVID-19 community infection in full month
Vietnam had no new COVID-19 cases to report on October 2 afternoon, marking 30 consecutive days without new infections in the community, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.
The country had only one imported case from Japan onboard Flight VN311 who arrived in the central city of Da Nang on September 30 and was quarantined right after her arrival. Her test for SARS-CoV-2 that causes the disease turned out positive on October 2.
Vietnam has recorded 1,096 infections so far. Of the total, 691 were locally-transmitted cases, including 551 linked with Da Nang city since the latest coronavirus wave hit the locality on July 25.
Among the confirmed cases, 1,020 have been given the all clear. The death toll remained at 35.
As many as 15,013 people who had close contact with COVID-19 patients and or arrived from pandemic-hit areas are being quarantine.
