Tet gifts presented to needy people and AO victims
PANO - The Red Cross Society of Hanoi, in coordination with relevant units, on January 19 held a program to hand over gifts to needy people and Agent Orange (AO) victims in Chuong My district ahead of the lunar New Year (Tet) festival.

It was part of activities in response to the campaign “Tet for the poor and AO victims” launched by the Red Cross Society of Hanoi.
The event saw the attendance of Chairman of the Hanoi Red Cross Society Dao Ngoc Trieu, President of the Hanoi Association of AO/dioxin victims Tran Van Quang, and sponsors Mr. Tony Kuo, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Pharmacity Pharmacy Joint Stock Company and Mrs. Nguyen Thi Minh Tuyet, a resident in Hanoi.
In detail, the Hanoi Red Cross Society and Pharmacity presented 50 Tet packages, worth VND 600,000 each, to poor families and AO victims in Dai Yen commune. Mrs. Nguyen Thi Minh Tuyet gave VND 200,000 in cash to each representative of 20 poor families.

The two units intend to grant 500 Tet gifts with a total cost of VND 300 million to disadvantaged households and AO victims across the city.
In Tan Tien commune, the Hanoi Red Cross Society and Mrs. Nguyen Thi Minh Tuyet presented 100 Tet gifts, valued at VND 56 million, to needy households.
Totally, the gifts in Chuong My district were worth VND 90 million, aiming to ease the difficulties of local poor families and AO victims and help them have a warmer and happier Tet holiday.
