Reading habit to be promoted among youngsters
PANO – The Library Department of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, on November 11, held a seminar themed “Disseminating and fostering reading habit among youths in the digital age.”
The event brought together many officials working in this field from all over the country with the aim to assess the current situation of reading needs and reading trends of young people in the context of the information technology boom and the 4.0 industrial revolution.
On the basis of the findings, the library sector hoped to find out shortcomings, difficulties and solutions to raise dissemination work so as to promote the reading movement among youngsters.
Addressing the event, Director of the Library Department Pham Quoc Hung said that the government’s project on developing reading habit in the community to 2020, with a vision to 2030, focuses on building and developing reading habits, skills, and movements among people, especially young and rural people with needy living standards. The project aims to raise people’s awareness and promote law observance.
Library officials and specialists participating in the seminar agreed on the necessity for a specific policy on reading habit for young people, service changes, and the growth of library digital resources.
