The project aims to help physically-impaired people in the province access assistive devices and orthosis as well as comprehensive, equal and high-quality healthcare.

With a total cost of VND 7.26 billion (USD 312,000), the project will be implemented over four years until 2022. The Thua Thien - Hue Rehabilitation Hospital will be a direct recipient of the project.

It will survey the knowledge, attitude and practice of physically impaired people and their families, while assessing performance, providing training courses on rehabilitation services, evaluating the implementation capacity of the project and subsidizing poor people who suffer from physical impairments.

It will also focus on rehabilitation services, integration with the community, detecting new cases, and streamlining hospital transfer procedures so that physically impaired people have easy access to services.

Experience of supporting the disabled will also be shared, while training courses will be provided for medical staff in hamlets and groups, along with standardizing the system for managing people with disabilities.

Nguyen Ngoc Anh, Coordinator of the CBM Office in Vietnam, said the project is expected to remove obstacles facing people with disabilities and promote a society in which no one is left behind.

She noted that from 2014-2016, CBM assisted a community-based rehabilitation program in the province to help disabled people integrate into the community and enhance their living conditions.
