The playground is part of the “Safer cities for girls” program sponsored by Plan International Vietnam. The project aims at achieving three objectives. The first is to renovate three tunnels of the Kim Chung commune by installing 24/7 lighting system and decorating the tunnels’ walls with students’ drawings with themes of gender equity  and safer cities for girls.

The project’s second objective is to convert a vacant yard in Thang Long residential area in Hai Boi commune into a safe public playground to meet the needs of about 500 children. Finally, the project aims to construct two safe, friendly and gender responsive playgrounds at Bac Thang Long High School and Kim Chung Secondary School.

As planned, this June, Plan International Vietnam will cooperate with the People's Committee of Dong Anh District and seven communes of Xuan Canh, Thuy Lam, Dong Hoi, Nguyen Khe, Co Loa, Kim No and Bac Hong to establish seven more safe public playgrounds for both children and adults.
