On October 20, Division 968 under Military Region 4 mobilized 500 troops and various vehicles to help people in Quang Tri and Thua Thien - Hue provinces overcome consequences of the recent flooding.

The troops cleared off mud, wastes on roads, at schools, and in parks. They also helped local policy beneficiaries in Huong Tra town and Hue city in Thua Thien - Hue province, and communes in Quang Tri province’s Cam Lo district.

The Department of Politics of Military Region 4 received VND 200 million support

* The same day, in Nha Trang city, the Party committee and political organizations of Khanh Hoa province raised funds for compatriots in Central provinces affected by the recent flooding. At the fund-raising ceremony, agencies, units, localities, economic organizations, businesses, armed forces, benefactors, servants, officials, laborers, and people from all walks of life were encouraged to donate at least a one-day’s salary to flood-affected people in the central provinces.

* Meanwhile, a mission from the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union visited and presented VND 200 million to the Department of Politics of Military Region 4 which is implementing search and rescue missions in Central provinces.

The mission also visited and gave VND 5 million each to the families of the troops of Military Region 4 who laid down their lives while carrying out the search and rescue mission in Rao Trang 3 Hydropower Plant.

Earlier, on October 18, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union raised more than VND 20 billion to support flood-hit people in central Vietnam. Of the raised funds, VND 500 million was sent to Quang Tri and Thua Thien - Hue provinces, while Ha Tinh and Quang Binh provinces each received VND 200 million. Medicines, food, life-jackets, and boats were also delivered to these Central provinces.

* The same day, the Mobile Police Command also held a ceremony to raise money to support people in central Vietnam under the chair of its commander Lieutenant General Pham Quoc Cuong.

At the event, General Cuong asked the command’s affiliated units to prepare forces and vehicles for emergency missions upon request, devise search and rescue plans, keep a close watch on weather developments, and make reports to the command so that it can issue timely directions.

* MED Group raised nearly VND 1 billion for flood-hit people in the central region to help them overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives soon.
