Director Viet Tu and musician Huy Tuan will set up the show and select the pieces to be performed.

With the theme of “For a Green Planet”, the festival will encourage children to enjoy outdoor activities to raise awareness of the importance of protecting the environment and building the Earth as a place where people can live in harmony with nature.

The festival, initiated by Vietnam Television (VTV), is organized annually on the occasion of International Children’s Day (June 1) to strengthen the friendship and solidarity of regional countries through cultural activities and exchange between children.

At its first iteration in 2016, the festival gathered children from ASEAN countries. Last year, it drew the participation of children from ASEAN countries as well as Japan and the Republic of Korea. This year, it will become a fully international festival with the participation of Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Russia, China, the Republic of Korea, Japan and Vietnam.

Each troupe consists of eight to 15 members. As the host, Vietnam has 30 members taking part in the event.

Another highlight of the festival is the street carnival to be held on June 2. It will feature a parade, games, music and dance performed at the Ocean Square of Vinpearl Land Nha Trang. Traditional folk dance, music, choir and hip hop performances are expected to create a cheerful and energetic atmosphere for children.

“The festival is a meaningful event,” said head of the organizing board Dang Diem Quynh. “It’s a chance to build friendship, enhance solidarity and convey our message that the whole world can join hands to care for and nurture the young generation towards a bright future.”

“Through the festival, we also want to promote the image of Vietnam and its people.”

“The children may not need to perform on the splendid stage or in the spotlight, and they will be happy because they can exchange with international friends and learn from different cultures.”

Quynh said the organizers want to create a happy time for the children, above all.

“Until now, we have cooperated with partners from many countries. Next year, we expect to bring children from additional countries to the festival.
