Local farmers in Tan Hung commune, Tien Lu district, Hung Yen recently found two bombs when they were washing their feet and hands at the T-junction of the Red River and Luoc River.

The bombs were immediately reported to the Hung Yen Provincial Military Command.

Upon receiving the information, the military command sent sappers to the scene. According to experts, the two bombs weighed over 100kg each and were fragmentation bombs dropped by the US Air Force in 1972.

Experts also said that the fuses of the two bombs were still active and they would explode when being bumped.

Local sappers then moved the bombs to a safe place and defused them.

Since 2012, the Hung Yen Provincial Military Command has collected and safely defused dozens of bombs and shells left by the war.
