The 19 households to benefit from the project were introduced at the event, including two each from Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, and Quang Nam, four from Soc Trang and nine from Khanh Hoa provinces.

In 2018, the project aims to provide housing and financial assistance for flood-affected families in other regions, including the Central, Northern, and Northwestern mountainous provinces.

It will also pilot sustainable village models by ensuring locals have clean water, toilets, and livelihoods.

The funds will also be used for training to enhance the capability of people to respond to natural disasters.

According to Pham Thi Huong Giang, who launched and runs the fund, the project funded half of the housing cost.

Previously, a similar event was held in Ho Chi Minh city on October 18, raising more than VND 3.3 billion (USD 193,600).

The project, which started in November 2013, has so far built 523 flood-proof houses, benefiting 2,092 people.
