Particularly, Military Region 5 was requested to increase on-duty troops to support localities heavily hit by the storm, particularly Binh Dinh, Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa provinces.
* According to the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, as of the morning of November 6, storm Damrey has so far claimed 44 lives and left 19 missing.
Additionally, it destroyed 1,358 houses, unroofed and damaged 114,866 others, inundated and ruined 5,296ha of rice and 14,849ha of crops. As many as 228 fishing boats sank while 24,435 fishing farms were damaged due to heavy waves and strong winds.

* In Binh Dinh and Khanh Hoa provinces, dozens of vessels and trawlers from the Navy, Vietnam Coast Guard, Vietnam Border Guard and local forces were mobilized to conduct search and rescue for 11 troubled ships with 100 crew-members on board.
Finally, the rescuers saved 88 victims and found four bodies, and are now concentrating on locating the remaining missing people.
* The Vietnam Electricity (EVN) said that as of November 5, seven out of ten 110kV transformer stations and 11 out of 14 110kV power lines, which had been affected by the storm, have been returned to operation.
* Due to the storm’s worse consequences in Quang Nam province, local armed forces with vehicles actively evacuated victims and their property in danger to safer sites.
Besides, the Quang Nam provincial Military Command and Border Guard Command worked together to successfully take ashore all 131 workers, who were working on a construction project on Gami Islet in Hoi An city.
* A delegation of the Department of Traffic Police under the Ministry of Public Security conducted a fact-finding inspection from Da Nang city to Quang Nam province on November 5. During the tour, they mapped out measures in order to ensure traffic order and safety for activities under the on-going APEC 2017 Economic Leaders’ Week.
* On November 5, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society donated both money and necessities worth VND 1.1 billion to assist victims of storm Damrey in Khanh Hoa, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen and Dak Lak provinces.
