The People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province officially declared the end of the diphtheria outbreak in Muong Lat townlet, Muong Lat district, on August 23.

No new cases have been reported in the district over the past 14 days.

Under a decision, Chairman of the Committee Do Minh Tuan told the provincial Health Department to continue supervising the disease within the province.

The department was tasked to promptly report and propose necessary measures to the committee for disease prevention and control in accordance with the Law on Infectious Disease Prevention and Control and the guidelines set by the Ministry of Health.

Additionally, Tuan directed the People's Committee of the district to lead and coordinate with relevant agencies in promoting and encouraging the local community to actively adopt measures to prevent and control diphtheria as per the ministry’s recommendations.

Previously, the diphtheria outbreak in the Doan Ket residential area in the town had recorded three confirmed cases.

The first case was detected on August 5, with the source of infection not identified. The two subsequent cases were close contacts of the initial patient and were promptly isolated.

By August 14, all three patients had been discharged from hospital and were at home being monitored by medics.
